NETWORK REINFORCEMENT – MULTI STOREY FLATS

60 STROWAN, STROWAN STREET , GLASGOW

IQA recently completed the reinforcement of 132 supplies at 60 Strowan in Glasgow . The CDM project required careful planning to consider routing of cables, containment routing & structure, structural layout, and possible effects of voltage drop.

A design for the complete works was put together and approved by ScottishPower and GHA, and following this hole coring works commenced as agreed with Structural Engineers.

The containment agreed was a timber boxing in to form risers and also used on landings to flats and this work was completed internally by the IQA Building Maintenance Team.

All properties were wired using 35MM Aluminium split concentric cable having and Low Smoke and Zero Halogen orange coloured outer sheath. The conductor size determined taking into account voltage drop.

The 4 month project was successfully completed with 2 changeovers from existing supplies to new supplies, with 66 flats being transferred per day.
